The emaciated body of a Staffy puppy has been found in a tiny crate on the side of a road near Doncaster Sheffield Airport.  

 

The eight month old dog was surrounded by rotting human food which had clearly been pushed through the bars or thrown into the crate including bread, chips, chicken nuggets and meatballs.

 

He was found by a cyclist on a grass verge on High Common Lane, Austerfield, Doncaster at 12.35pm yesterday (Thursday 26 October).

A search is underway for the owner of a lost cat in Cardiff, who was found with microchip details registered over 2,000 miles away in Cyprus.

The ginger and white cat was spotted by a member of the public in the Butetown / Cardiff Bay area of the city on 15 October.

RSPCA Cymru was alerted after it became apparent that the cat – who was snuffling and sneezing – appeared not to have a home to go to.

RSPCA Cymru’s very own cuddly bear has helped out at the Merthyr veterinary clinic, as part of celebrations marking Build-a-Bear Workshop’s 20th birthday.

The bear has been travelling to RSPCA centres and clinics across England and Wales meeting some special animals along the way, as a thank you to the toy company for their on-going support.

Recent stormy weather has led to an influx of seal pups at an RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire.

There are currently 10 seals at Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre, in Nantwich, who have been admitted after becoming stranded on beaches and separated from their mums due to high winds.

It is the largest number of seals the centre has had at any one time.​

RSPCA Cymru is highlighting the danger of mouse traps to other species after a blue tit lost her life having becoming caught in a device set in Abergavenny.

The poor bird had got her leg trapped in the spring trap, and was spotted struggling around a back garden, in Chapel Lane, for a number of hours. The incident occurred in the Monmouthshire market town on 6 October.
