A special pet blessing service will take place in Merthyr Tydfil on Sunday (October 8).
The annual event takes place at St Tydfil’s Old Parish Church on Lower High Street in the town, and gets underway at 3pm.
Sunday’s blessing is run in conjunction with the RSPCA’s Glamorgan North and East branch, with the Church collecting funds for the local RSPCA charity at the event.
The event falls on the first Sunday after the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of animals – and Father Mark Prevett is welcoming all pets, and their owners, to the blessing.
Father Prevett said: “Pet or no pet, we’d love as many people as possible to attend Sunday’s service, and share in our love of animals.
“This service will celebrate the wonderful diversity of animals in our community, the pleasure they give us, and the amazing things we can learn from them – from caring, to supporting one another.
“We’ve been working with the local community to get people involved – we’d love to see lots of people and pets in attendance.”
