Seven newborn kittens have been found dumped “heartlessly” in a carrier bag in Abercynon.
RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal for information, after the shocking discovery was made by a member of the public on Wednesday (16 August).
Two of the seven kittens were found dead, while another – initially seen to be gasping – later sadly passed away. A mother cat to the kittens was nowhere to be seen.

A swan who was found covered in petrol is on the road to recovery at an RSPCA wildlife centre.
The swan was rescued by a team of RSPCA officers using a boat on a lake in Gerards Lane, St Helens, on Wednesday, 9 August, after a member of the public spotted the oil-covered bird on a bank. An empty petrol can was also recovered from the lake.

The RSPCA is appealing for information about a video being circulated on the internet which shows an injured sheep – thought to have a broken leg – being tossed into a field by a man.
It is believed that the footage – which has been retweeted more than 6,000 times on Twitter – was filmed near to Stoke-on-Trent, however the RSPCA does not have any further information at this stage.

RSPCA Cymru has launched a new limited edition range of clothing ahead of Cardiff’s Pride Cymru event, featuring animals carrying positive connotations within the LGBT community.
The clothing range will launch as part of RSPCA’s “biggest ever” presence at Pride Cymru, taking place at Cardiff City Hall. The charity will be at Pride Cymru on 26 and 27 August.

A six-strong team of RSPCA officers completed a dramatic rope rescue of a Great Orme goat, on Tuesday (15 August).
The young male goat had become trapped on a ledge, towering above Llandudno’s Marine Drive.
RSPCA Cymru closely monitored the animal’s progress, and it became apparent a rope rescue team would be required to bring the goat to safety.
