Rabbit Meet and Greet eventRSPCA Newport Animal Centre is putting the final preparations in place for a ‘Rabbit Meet and Greet’ event, and treasure hunt, to be held on Sunday (August 27) at 2pm.

The event offers young people an opportunity to meet rabbits and learn about their specific needs.

A treasure hunt is taking place – with children able to take part for £1, and all funds going towards supporting Newport Animal Centre’s animal welfare work.

Newport Animal Centre re-homed 51 rabbits in 2016 – and is currently looking to pair Honey, Pipkin, Sutton and Finley with their perfect forever homes.

Refreshments and cakes will be available, while there will also be the opportunity for children to enjoy games, as well as an arts and crafts session.

The Centre is based on Hartridge Farm Road in the city.

Kath Logan, of Newport Animal Centre, said: “Newport Animal Centre is hugely excited to host a Rabbit Meet & Greet Event, and Treasure Hunt, this Sunday (August 27).

“Four percent of pet-owning households in Wales have a rabbit. They are fantastically rewarding companions – and this event, we hope, will give children a hugely important insight into how to care for rabbits, meet their needs – and give them a tasty treat in the process!

“There’ll be loads of other activities, too – with children’s games, arts & crafts, refreshments, and other goodies all setting up a fantastic event, at 2pm, at Newport Animal Centre.”
