Public service organisations across Wales have again been invited to share best practice and outstanding contributions to animal welfare, via RSPCA Cymru’s Community Animal Welfare Footprints. 

The scheme recognises Local Authorities, housing providers and others within the public sector achieving higher animal welfare standards – and is the only such scheme of its kind in Wales.

RSPCA’s Community Animal Welfare Footprints (CAWF) celebrates good practice, by providing recognition to those going above and beyond statutory service requirements.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dying puppy was dumped in a car carrier outside a Pets at Home, in Southwark.

CCTV footage shows a man with dark hair, and dressed in a dark top and bottoms hurrying over and then leaving the dirty carrier just outside the front door of the store in Old Kent Road, just before 11.30am on Thursday, 8 June.

An RSPCA branch has teamed-up with local veterinary practices to provide free neutering and spaying of pet rabbits across Pembrokeshire, as part of Rabbit Awareness Week (17 June – 25 June).

Microchipping and vaccination support is also available as part of the scheme, backed by the RSPCA Pembrokeshire branch.

A South West Wales RSPCA officer has been recognised with a special award for her service to animals.

Ellie West, RSPCA animal collection officer, has been recognised by the charity with the special Jeanne McBride Award, as part of its annual ‘Honours’ event.
