The RSPCA is offering assistance to the owners of animals affected by the tower block evacuations in Camden last night.

We have been in touch with Camden Council this morning and are headed to the area now.

A register is going to be opened up at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre, which is one of the locations providing emergency accommodation, and anyone who needs our help can also call us on 0300 1234 999.

RSPCA animal collection officer (ACO) Zenon Brown said: “I saw an appeal on Sky News this morning and thought ‘we need to get in touch’.

“I spoke to the assistant director of the inspectorate and we rang the council straight away.

“We’ll do everything we can to assist those affected by last night’s evacuations.

“We have been told – via social media – about a couple of people who need urgent help but don’t really have any idea what the need is yet.

“I’m heading to the area now so that we can start to make plans.”

The RSPCA has been on standby to assist victims and emergency services if requested since the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in West London but so far, our assistance has not been required.

Our thoughts go out to everyone that has been affected and we remain available to anyone who may need our help over the coming days and weeks.
