RSPCA Cymru has launched an appeal for information after a cat was fatally shot in the Neath area.

The cat – named Bird – was found with a puncture wound between his shoulder blades, and was in severe distress as he dragged his back legs along the floor.

Sadly, Bird’s injuries were so severe that he later died from the extent of the injuries.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog was found abandoned and sitting in her own urine at a service station in Stafford.

The female lurcher was discovered in the early hours of Saturday (20 May) after a man heard her barking. She was found tied to a traffic cone in a corner of Lammascote Service Station, in Lammascote Road, Stafford.

She has now been taken into the RSPCA’s care, where staff have named her Susie.

A man who failed to attend to his horse for several months, which led to the animal dying an “agonising” death, has been disqualified from keeping equines for life.

Simon Nall (DOB 20/10/1996), of Clarence Road, Long Eaton, appeared at Derby Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Thursday 25 May), to be sentenced for failing to take reasonable steps to prevent another person from causing unnecessary suffering to a piebald colt horse named Storm.

A deaf dog who spends time with people affected by dementia in specialist North Wales facilities has been awarded ‘Rescue Dog of the Year’ at the Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre’s Fun Dog Show.

Ted, who is approximately eight years old, picked up the accolade at the event in Upper Colwyn Bay on Sunday (21 May).

Rescue dogs from across North Wales were in attendance at the show – many of whom had inspiring, uplifting stories to share with the judges.

The RSPCA is investigating after a dog was left to die, tied up in a bin bag and dumped at the side of a road.

A member of the public contacted the RSPCA at 11.30pm on Tuesday night (23 May), after they found the dog in Dorset Road, in Saltley, Birmingham.

The dog, who was alive but in a bad way when he was found, had been placed in the bin bag, which had been tied tightly.
