The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a Jack Russell terrier was found taped in a bin bag and dumped in a rucksack.

The brown and white dog was found by a canal in Bank Road, in Bootle, Liverpool, on Thursday (8 February). RSPCA Cymru worked with South Wales Fire & Rescue to save a cat trapped approximately 65-feet up a tree in the Swansea area.

The young cat, named Olly, had become stuck up the tree on 27 January, just a few doors down from the owner’s property, in Loughor.

RSPCA Cymru arrived to the garden of the Maes Yr Haf Place property, where the cat was found towards the top of the towering tree.

The cruel and indiscriminate nature of snares has been highlighted, after a badger became trapped in a device in the Vale of Glamorgan.

RSPCA Cymru was alerted to the incident on 5 February, after a badger was found trapped in the snare, next to a fence, in a Barry field.

A member of the public initially thought the badger was foraging by the fence, but, after being concerned by a lack of movement, later found it to be trapped.

A cat who had gotten wedged between two brick walls at a home in Stoke-on-Trent was rescued after a four-hour operation to free him.

The RSPCA was contacted by the concerned owner of Mickey at 10pm on Thursday (2 February) after the plucky cat was found squeezed down a tiny gap – just eight inches wide – at the side of his house and his next door neighbour’s garage, in Meadow Lane.
