The RSPCA is appealing for information after a wild bird was shot by a canal in Ellesmere Port.

The body of a cormorant was found by a member of the public by the canal in Cromwell Road on 30 January.

An RSPCA rescue dog who urgently needed heart surgery has had the life-saving operation – thanks to generous donations from the public.

Five-year-old terrier Molly had a heart block, which meant that her heart could not beat properly. Without a pacemaker, her lifespan would have been reduced.

An appeal for information has been launched, following the suspected poisoning of two cats in Porth.

RSPCA Cymru is also urging pet owners to be vigilant, after an owner – from Leslie Terrace in the town – lost both of her cats.

A local resident returned home on 28 January to find one of her cats dead, with veterinary inspection confirming her second cat had also been poisoned.
