A seven-strong team of RSPCA officers have staged a remarkable rescue of a trapped sheep from a quarry in Snowdonia.

The sheep had been trapped for approximately two weeks, and was stuck several hundred feet down the quarry, which prompted a call to the RSPCA.

RSPCA officers arrived at the scene to find the sheep uninjured, and with access to food and water, but with no way to return safely to land.

Appeal for information

The RSPCA is investigating after a dead dog was dumped in a bin bag by a garage in South East London – in a horrifically emaciated state.

The body of the male brindle-and-white Staffordshire terrier, thought to be just around a year old, was discovered by a dog walker at around 5pm on Saturday (28 January) in Fairlawn Garages in Cherry Orchard Estate, Charlton.

The RSPCA is investigating after the death of a cat who was shot in the abdomen by someone using an air gun near his home in Haywards Heath.

Fang, a grey-and-white 12 year-old male, came back to his home in Silver Birches on Sunday, 22 January, clearly unwell and suffering from sickness.

A stray cat in the Llandudno area has lost his life after being poisoned with anti-freeze, prompting an appeal for information – and a vigilance warning – from RSPCA Cymru.

On 25 January, a member of the public found the collapsed cat, who was shivering and displaying symptoms consistent with being poisoned.

The black and white domestic shorthair cat was found on Llandudno Road, in Penrhyn Bay. There is no indication that the cat had an owner.

RSPCA Cymru is concerned after the body of a burned cat was found behind a block of flats in Swansea.

The charity is appealing to the public for information, after the body was found on Thursday 26 January.
