The RSPCA is appealing for information after a shih tzu dog was tied to a lamp post at a Wolverhampton park – where she is thought to have been left overnight.

The female dog was found, shivering and scared, by a member of the public on Monday morning (12 December) at a park near Glentworth Gardens.

She was microchipped however her owners cannot be traced as the details were not up to date.

A swan rescued by RSPCA Cymru – having been found exhausted outside a Morfa shopping centre – has now been returned safely to the wild.

The bird shocked Christmas shoppers at the Morfa Bay precinct on Thursday 1 December, with a sizeable crowd gathering to watch as the exhausted bird sat struggling outside shops.

A woman who abandoned two cats in a house, which led to their deaths from starvation, has been disqualified from keeping animals for life.

Karen Whittingham (DOB 16/08/1972), of Winsford Avenue, Kingswinford, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday 6 December) to be sentenced for causing unnecessary suffering to the two cats by failing to feed them, and for failing to ensure the cats were housed in a suitable environment.
