Rabbit owners in Pembrokeshire are being encouraged to hop into action to improve their pet’s health and welfare.

As part of Rabbit Awareness Week, which runs from 18 June to 26 June, the RSPCA Pembrokeshire Branch is working in partnership with several veterinary surgeries in the area to encourage rabbit owners to take advantage of free veterinary treatment.

The RSPCA is investigating after a cat lost an eye when he was shot with an air rifle in Dudley.

Milo, an 18-month-old black longhair cat, returned to his home in Somery Road with the injuries on the evening of Sunday, 15 May.

His owner, Laurie Haywood, immediately took him to a vet, where she was told that his eye could not be saved.

An animal-themed “bake off” will be one of the highlights at an RSPCA centre’s summer fair next month.

The event will take place at the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Wildlife and Cattery centre, in Nantwich, Cheshire, from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 3 July.

Other activities include a dog show, crafts, archery, tombola, food and entertainment. Visitors will also have the chance to get their dog microchipped.

RSPCA rescues fox in Hertfordshire

The RSPCA has rescued a fox cub from a football net, just days before the start of Euro 2016.

The fox was found on Wednesday morning (8 June) tangled in the net in the back garden of a house in Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire.
