The RSPCA is appealing for information after an elderly Jack Russell with a large tumour was dumped by a church in Wigan.
Susie, aged around 14 years old, was found by a church volunteer outside St Barnabas Church, in Marsh Green, on Tuesday (15 March).
RSPCA inspector Susie Micallef said: “Susie is in a bad way. She has a very large tumour on her mammary gland which could have potentially spread elsewhere. We cannot say for sure how long she has had this tumour for, but the likelihood is that she has been in pain and discomfort for a long time.
“There is a chance that she was dumped because she was so ill, which is a callous and disgusting thing to do.”
Susie, who is currently in the RSPCA’s care, was microchipped, however the details were not up to date and therefore the RSPCA has been unable to trace Susie’s owner.
Inspector Micallef said: “I am urging anyone who knows any information about Susie to contact us in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018 so we can find out how Susie came to be like she was.”
