The RSPCA is appealing for people who witnessed an alleged dog attack on a cat in Liverpool to come forward with information.

The charity has been made aware of a post on social media over the weekend, which states that a Staffordshire Bull terrier-type dog fatally attacked a ginger cat in Delamore Street, Kirkdale, on Tuesday 2 February while the dog owner watched.

The dog was allegedly off his lead when the incident occurred.

RSPCA spokeswoman Rachel Butler said: “At the moment we do not know much more information than what is on the social media post, but would obviously very concerned if it was true.

“We urge anyone who saw anything, or has any information about this alleged incident to contact us in complete confidence on 0300 123 8018 so we can investigate further.”
