He is only two years-old – but poor Ralph has had five different homes already.
Ralph is now at RSPCA’s Newport Animal Centre who are looking for the perfect owner to take him home and give him all the attention and love he truly deserves.
Ralph is a crossbreed and is deaf – but he doesn’t let that get in his way.
Kennel and cattery supervisor Samantha Richmond said: “Ralph is very bright and picks up things quick. The staff at the animal centre have been training him on hand signals and he is responding really well.
“He absolutely loves going out for walks – he would stay out all day if he could!
“We are looking for an owner who has experience with dogs, and possibly someone who has owned a deaf dog before. Picking up hand signals isn’t hard, though, and it is really rewarding when you see Ralph understanding and learning.
“Ralph has been with us since October last year and wasn’t ready to go up for homing until beginning of January due to his skin as he had a flea allergy. But his skin is getting better by the day and he’s not on any baths now for his skin as it is all sorted.
“Ralph has had five homes before. It wasn’t picked up that the poor boy was actually deaf. When he first came into our care you could tell something was not right, by the way he was responding to things, so we got him checked by a vet who confirmed he was deaf.
“He is such a lovely boy and is so striking with his one blue and one brown eye. We just hope we find a loving and forever home for him soon!”
