The RSPCA is appealing for information after the body of a dog with a plastic bag over her head and her legs tied together was found in a canal near Stockport.

A member of the public found the body of the Perro de Presa Canario breed yesterday (Monday 18 January) in Romiley Canal, by Romiley Board Mill, in Oakwood Road.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog with a severe skin condition was found near a Dudley nature reserve.

The ten-month-old female English bull terrier was picked up by a dog warden at Fens Pool, in Bryce Road, Brierley Hill, on Monday, 4 January, with the RSPCA becoming involved due to the dog having severe mange.

Mange is caused by parasitic mites and causes itching, hair loss, scabs and lesions.

A sheep trapped on a ledge on the side of Tryfan Mountain in the Ogwen Valley of Snowdonia has been rescued by the RSPCA.

The sheep – which had been there for some days – was spotted around 100 metres down and was unable to move out of danger.

The RSPCA team included inspectors, Mike Pugh, Vicky Taylor (who was the team leader), Nayman Dunderdale: Mark Roberts: Fred Armstrong; and animal collection officer (ACO) Ann Lloyd Williams.

RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after two hamsters were found in a lay-by near St Fagans, Cardiff.

The two hamsters were found at the side of the road at Croft-y-Genau Road on Saturday (16 January). There wasn’t a cage but there was some shredded paper.

A Northamptonshire man who stabbed his dog in a park and left him for dead has been sent to jail and disqualified from keeping animals for life.

Steven Cook (DOB 01/07/1977), of Greenhill Crescent, Daventry, took three year-old shih tzu Ronnie to Spider Park, in Daventry, where he repeatedly stabbed him with a kitchen knife in the face, neck and body on 23 August last year.
