A swan had to be treated in intensive care after getting stuck in a squashed corner behind a solid metal ladder attached to the wall of a canal.

The RSPCA was called after a member of the public spotted the swan thrashing around in the water on Monday, 7 September. The bird’s legs had got caught on the rung of the ladder in Brandon lock, Church Road, in Brandon, Suffolk.

The RSPCA is appealing for information after a woman was seen kicking a hedgehog in the middle of Peterborough.

We were called after a passing member of the public saw the middle-aged female attacking the wild animal and shouting at him around 2.30pm on Tuesday (15 September). She was in a courtyard at the bottom of some flats in Sprignall, Bretton.

A fundraising page has been set up to help raise money for a dog with tumours who was abandoned in Stoke-on-Trent.

Bubbles, a white Staffordshire bull terrier, was taken into the RSPCA’s care after being found in Garsdale Crescent, Blurton, on Tuesday 8 September.

An RSPCA wildlife centre in Cheshire has welcomed a rare patient – a puffin.

The young bird is currently being treated at Stapeley Grange in Nantwich after being taken there on 7 September.  He was found grounded on a beach in Anglesey, North Wales, by a concerned member of the public.

He was found to have a serious wound to the body and is believed to have been attacked by another animal, possibly a dog.

RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a seriously unwell cat was found in North Cornelly, Bridgend.

A member of the public contacted the RSPCA after they found the cat in an underweight and weak state on Friday [11 September] at Ael Y Bryn.
