GORGEOUS George is a little treasure.
George, a bay colt, (left) was born in RSPCA care on 5 May 2014, and is now looking for his forever home.
His mother Bubbles (pictured right) was rescued on the Gower Peninsula in an emaciated state, heavily burdened with worms and was suffering with chronic diarrhea.
RSPCA equine rehoming officer for Wales (ERO) Gareth Johnson, said slowly Bubbles’ condition improved.
“After a period of high dependency she slowly started to gain strength and weight and during blood tests it was discovered she was in foal,” he said.
“Miraculously, with dedicated RSPCA care, she gave birth to George, who we see today is full of life and is a great little chap.
“He has been handled since birth and is very easy to do in all ways. He should go on to make 13.2HH and will make a really good family pony.”
It is believed that there are 4,500 horses identified as being at risk across England and Wales and to help deal with the ongoing crisis, RSPCA is launching an appeal for homes for the horses, ponies and donkeys in its care.
ERO Johnson said: “Sadly we have so many horses in our care that have not had the best start in life, and need good responsible homes.
“We are hoping this appeal will help us rehome many of our horses, ponies and donkeys.
“We would love nothing more than for George to start a new life with a loving new home.”
George is currently at Gonsal Farm Equine Welfare and Rehabilitation Centre along with his mum Bubbles.
