ASSEMBLY Member for Pontypridd, Mick Antoniw, accompanied RSPCA inspector Simon Evans on several calls in and around his Pontypridd constituency today [20 March].

Among the incidents they dealt with during the day were an overcrowding issue and other animal welfare concerns.

Mick AntoniwMick Antoniw AM said he found the day a “real eye opener”.

“It was a real experience to see at first hand the expertise and professionalism with which RSPCA officers protect the welfare of animals in Wales,” he said.

“I was able to see the social problems that lead to animal neglect to examples of wilful disregard for the wellbeing of animals. It was a sobering experience but one that has taught me a lot about the commitment of organisations like the RSPCA and how much they contribute to animal welfare in Wales.”

RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Antoniw to spend a day with me to experience what we do. We attended several calls and he was given true insight into the work the RSPCA does.”
