A SPECIAL festive wish-list has been created by RSPCA’s Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre in Upper Colwyn Bay.
The centre has set up an Amazon Christmas wish-list full of toys and tasty treats to spread a bit of extra festive cheer among the animals they are currently looking after.
Animal care assistant Abbie Griffith, who put the list together, said: “Here at Bryn-y-Maen we rescue and rehabilitate abused, neglected and abandoned animals. But we couldn’t do the work that we do without the generous donations we receive.
“Toys and treats provide much needed enrichment and training aids meaning that the animals are less stressed and able to be rehomed quicker.
“The gifts on the wish-list are also a great way to spoil the animals on Christmas Day. We honestly couldn’t have given these animals the level of care that we did without the generous donations from our wishlist of toys and treats.”
More than 100 animals are currently at the centre – and among them are Ruby and Bagel, two long-stay animals that are in need of a forever home.
Bagel, a five-year-old black and white female cat, arrived at the centre grossly overweight back in April and was fostered so that she had someone around to keep her active.
“Her new hobbies include a spot of golf in the mornings – chasing a golf ball around the house – and exploring any open cupboards she may find!” said Abbie. “However, she is not prepared to compromise on her afternoon siesta!”
The centre is also looking after Ruby, who arrived as a walking skeleton.
“She was skin and bone and covered in sores,” said Abbie. “We gave her a kennel in our isolation block to keep her quiet with lots of comfy beds and king size duvets and she soon piled on the pounds.
“However, now that she is up to full health, she struggles with kennel life. We do what we can for her and the treats and toys donated have done wonders for her. She is a great dog, adores people and will make a great walking partner as she’s quite active.
“We would love nothing more than to see Bagel and Ruby have a new home for Christmas.”
