SHE has certainly gone the extra mile for animals in need.
It was a challenge – but RSPCA’s Newport Animal Centre manager Debbie Caffull – managed to complete the Cardiff Half Marathon in one hour and 54 minutes and came 5,612 out of 21,124.
She said it was a tough race – but worth it to raise funds for the centre.
“The route through Cardiff was much of a blur as I was in the zone and the first four miles felt good,” she said.
“It was a lovely run as it was supported by many people spectating and cheering everyone on.
“Once I got home I enjoyed a well deserved hot bath to try a sooth the achy legs and a lovely Sunday roast!”
So far she has raised a mighty £362.50.
“All proceeds raised will go back to the RSPCA Newport Animal Centre,” she said. “The money is going to be spent on a few things, but our next big project is creating an indoor area for the dogs. We are hoping to convert a storage room into a training and socialising room.
“The proceeds will hopefully help mend a few broken souls either mentally or physically who sadly didn’t get the best start in life and have fallen under the RSPCA wings to care for them.
“I am hoping that all you animal lovers out there will support me in helping to make a difference as the more money I raise the more I can help those animals in need.”
