A PET blessing service is to be held at St Tydfil’s Church, Merthyr Tydfil on Sunday 5 October.

The event is being run in association with RSPCA’s Glamorgan North and East branch and will take place at 3pm.

Father Mark Prevett said: “For us this is Animal Welfare Sunday and is the Sunday nearest the day we remember St Francis of Assisi, who is the Patron Saint of Animals.

“We are holding a service at 3pm in the afternoon at St Tydfil’s Church to focus on the twin themes of our own pets and our care for animals in general.

“Anyone is welcome to come along and can bring along their pets.”

Father Prevett added that they will be holding a collection on the day with any funds raised to go to the RSPCA branch.
