With just days to go, final preparations are taking place for RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre’s Easter Fair & Eggstravaganza at the weekend.
The event is taking place at the Beaney Lane centre in Chester le Street between 11.30am and 2pm on Easter Sunday (20 April 2014)
RSPCA Felledge animal centre manager Maggie Eden said: “It’ll be a really family-focused day with lots of activities for the children, a raffle, tombola and some great goodies for sale – we’re even encouraging people to bring their dog along!
“We really hope local people to come down and support us.”
RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre is a temporary home for some of the most neglected and cruelly treated dogs, cats and equines in the North East. All of the animals have come in from RSPCA officers because of concerns for their welfare and many arrive in a shocking state. Despite this staff managed to find homes for 51 dogs, 238 cats and 25 equines last year alone.
Maggie said: “We make sure the animals get the veterinary treatment they need, training and socialisation and general TLC until they can, hopefully, be found forever homes. In some cases they can be with us for many months.
“Events like the Easter Fair are essential in helping us raise the money we need to keep doing this, day-in and day-out. Caring for as many animals as we do doesn’t come cheap, and every penny really does count.”
Entry costs £1 and under 16s are free.
