Final preparations are taking place for RSPCA Great Ayton Animal Centre’s Easter Fair & Eggstravaganza at the weekend (Saturday 5 April 2014).

The event is taking place at the Yarm Lane centre in Great Ayton between 11.30am and 3pm.

RSPCA deputy manager Olivia Newell said: “It’ll be a great day with lots of activities for the children, a raffle, tombola and goodies for sale.

“People will be able to meet some of the animals we have looking for new homes, and pet and have their photos taken with some miniature Shetland ponies which will be visiting us for the day.

“There will be something for all the family – even the dogs are welcome!

“We really hope local people to come down and support us.”

RSPCA Great Ayton Animal Centre is a temporary home for some of the most neglected and cruelly treated dogs, cats, rabbits and other animals in the North East. All of the animals have come in from RSPCA officers because of concerns for their welfare and many arrive in a shocking state.

Olivia said: “We make sure they get the veterinary treatment they need, training and general

TLC until they can, hopefully, be found loving new homes. In some cases they can be with us

for many months.

“Events like the Easter Fair help us raise the money we need to keep doing this, day-in and day-out. It costs over £35,250 a month to keep RSPCA Great Ayton running so every penny really does count.”

Entry costs 50p and under 16s are free.
