A 19 year old woman from Staffordshire is becoming an #AnimalHero by having her head shaved in aid of the RSPCA tomorrow (Friday 20 December 2013).

 

Nikki Kelly, who lives on Linden Grove, Newcastle Under Lyme decided she wanted to do some fundraising after seeing an RSPCA advert on TV. She said: “I wanted to do something to help.

A heron surrounded by water drops glistening in the setting sun has won first prize in a competition for young people.

Danielle Connor, 17, from Wimbledon, London was today named the overall winner of our Young Photographer Awards 2013 (YPA13) for her atmospheric ‘Bokeh Heron’ photograph taken at her local pond. She also won the 16-18 years category for the same photo.

RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after a cat was found gasping for breath in a Rhondda street.

The brindle tabby was discovered by a member of the public in an alleyway near Hendrefadog street in Tylorstown on Thursday 5 December. This is the heartbreaking moment caught on CCTV footage of a puppy being dumped by its owner outside the gates of our Birmingham Animal Centre and Hospital.

The incident happened at around 11am on Wednesday 11 December at the centre in Frankley.

RSPCA Newport animal centre is appealing for donations to pay for two operations needed for six year-old Sharpei cross, Stella.

Stella was brought to the centre because of concerns for her welfare as she needed specialist medical care for a hernia and entropia. Entropia is a condition that affects certain breeds of dogs and is caused when there is excess skin in the eyelids, that leads to irritation.
