The RSPCA is appealing for information after a black with brown markings was found with air pellet wounds in the Trebanos area of Swansea.
The elderly and thin animal was collected from Heol y Llwynau, Trebanos on Monday 30 September. The caller had been feeding the stray cat and the animal is now in RSPCA care. Veterinary examination has revealed two air rifle pellets below his rib cage.
RSPCA officer Steph Davidson said: “We’d like to hear from the owner as soon as possible. This cat has a lovely temperament and there must be an owner out there who is looking for their animal. We’d also like to hear from anyone who has information about how the cat sustained these pellet wounds.”
Shooting an animal is a serious offence and could result in a prison sentence of up to 6 months and/or a fine of up to £20,000.
If anyone has any information about this incident, they are urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 1234 999. Calls will be treated in confidence.
