RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after three cats in the Llys Cattwg area of Talbot Green died of suspected rat poison in the same week. All three belonged to the same owner who has five cats in total.

The owner’s first cat died on 14 September and veterinary examination confirmed the death had probably been caused by rat poison. Another cat died on 18 September and the third animal had to be put to sleep by a vet on 19 September after being gravely ill.

RSPCA inspector Danielle Baber said: “Someone  may have laid rat poison in all innocence trying to catch vermin, but the death of these cats is too much of a coincidence. Either the poison needs to be moved away from domestic pets or this is a deliberate attempt to cause suffering to animals. This is probably happening in the Llys Cattwg area and we’d urge anyone with any information to get in touch with us”.

Mrs Howells, the owner of the  three cats said: “ We really hope someone will come forward who knows something about these poisonings; we’d hate anyone else to go through what we’re suffering.

If anyone has any information about these incident they are urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 1234 999. Calls will be treated in confidence.
