RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after discovering a fox tied up inside a box in the garden of a house in Swansea. The fox was alive but her legs and muzzle were tied up and there was a piece of copper piping in her mouth.
A metal fox trap was also found in the garden of the property in the Blackpill area of the city.

Sadly, ten days after being rescued, the fox had to be put to sleep on the advice of a vet due to injuries she sustained from the rope that was tied around her legs.

RSPCA Inspector Gemma Cooper said: ”Someone had deliberately trapped this poor fox and kept in this barbaric way. We have no idea why she was trapped or what would have happened if we hadn’t found her.
“We would like to hear from anyone who has information about this incident or with information where the trap was purchased. We would be particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has sold one between January and June of this year”.
It is an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to treat an animal in this way with the person or persons responsible facing a potential prosecution and maximum sentence of £20,000 and or a six-month prison sentence.
If anyone has any information about this incident they are urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 1234 999. Calls will be treated in confidence.
