The RSPCA made an unusual collection earlier this week when we were called to rescue a Peregrine Falcon from the top of a car.

The RSPCA rescued ducks, geese and swans from a river in Norfolk following a diesel spill on Tuesday.

The RSPCA was called out to the Little Ouse and Thet rivers in Thetford after someone broke into a commercial property and damaged a diesel container when they were disturbed, causing thousands of litres of fuel to spill out into the rivers.

This year’s Appleby Horse Fair has been the most successful ever from an animal welfare point of view, with fewer incidents and fewer warnings than ever before. 

It comes as the annual Gypsy and Traveller event, which started on Thursday, 6 June, ends for another year.

Deputy manager of RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre, Lisa Paulin, is walking the West Highland Way for some of the North East’s most needy animals.


Lisa, who is yard manager at the County Durham centre she’s raising money for, will take on the 96 mile challenge with good friend Gail Forbes and her RSPCA rescue dogs Lexi and Piglet (pictured).


The fundraising effort begins on Wednesday 26 June and is expected to take five days to complete.

We are appealing for information after a Jack Russell was shot by an air rifle while out on her morning walk.

Paul Whiston, of Harlow, Essex walked his nine-year-old dog Millie to the end of their cul-de-sac on Saturday, 1 June when she was callously shot.

The damage was so serious that she lost a kidney and is continuing to suffer serious health problems.
