The RSPCA is asking if you have time to spare to join our dedicated team of fundraising volunteers collecting at Tesco stores in your area this RSPCA Week (Monday 29 April to Sunday 5 May).
RSPCA regional fundraising manager Amy Smith said: “Our inspectors and animal welfare officers rescue around 140,000 animals every year – that’s about 2,700 a week.
“It costs us in excess of £127m per year to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome these animals or release as many as we can back into the wild and we rely entirely on public donations to pay for our work.
“Our annual awareness week, RSPCA Week, is supported by hundreds of Tesco collections across the UK which helped us raise nearly £400,000 last year but we’re determined to beat that in 2013.
“Please, if you can, donate a few hours of your time to help animals in need, now is the time to act to show you care.”
Collections are being carried out at Tesco stores across the country with the majority taking place between Friday 3 May and Sunday 5 May. If you are 18 years of age or over the RSPCA would love to hear from you. Collectors will be provided with all the necessary information and resources and collection times can be tailored to suit your availability.
Amy said: “All of the money raised will go towards the RSPCA’s work in preventing cruelty to animals by all lawful means, including rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming abandoned and mistreated animals, bringing those responsible for cruelty before the courts and campaigning for improvements in animal welfare.”
You can volunteer to collect for your local branch or the national society. To register your interest please contact your local branch by visiting www.rspca.org.uk/inyourarea or email Amy Smith at the national society on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0300 123 8827 as soon as possible.
