The RSPCA is appealing for information after a dog was left tied up in  a park in Northampton.

The dog was found by a concerned member of the public on Monday 3 March tied to the railings near to the toilets and children’s play area in Abington Park, Northampton.

The RSPCA was called and an inspector removed the German Shepherd dog and took it to the RSPCA Woodside Animal Shelter in Leicester.

The inspector has put up found posters in the area – but as yet no owner has come forward.

RSPCA Inspector Damian Wooliscroft said: “This female dog is in good health and she is probably around five to seven years old.

“She is currently being kept in our kennels but it is clear she not used to this kind of environment.

“At first I thought because she is healthy and such a lovely dog she was probably just lost. But as more time passes and no owner have come forward, it makes me think she was actually abandoned.

“She had some kind of blue collar and grey harness on her when found and an extendable lead.

“Anyone who has any information regarding who may own this dog, or if you are the owner, please call the RSPCA inspector appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”
