The RSPCA would like information on who threw a black cat out of the back of an estate car near the village of Keston in Kent.

The incident happened in Jackass Lane at around 1pm on Tuesday 19 March.

A witness saw a red Volvo estate pull up and a woman go round to the back of the car.

She opened up a cat carrier inside the boot and pulled out a black cat which she threw to the side of the road.

RSPCA inspector Anthony Pulfer said: “When challenged about her actions, the woman said she did it because the cat ‘scratches’.

“It is unbelievable that she thinks this is a valid reason to abandon this poor cat in the middle of nowhere.”

The terrified cat ran off and inspector Pulfer is asking anyone who finds the cat and anyone who has information on the woman in the red Volvo estate to call the inspector information line in confidence and leave a message for him on 0300 123 8018.
