The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat became caught in an illegal gin trap in Higham Ferrers.

Owner Liz Elthick said her cat Tiggy returned to the family home in North End on Tuesday 20 November with the trap stuck on his left front leg.


She said Tiggy was trying to get through the cat flap, but couldn’t, and when she went to investigate she found the trap firmly clamped around his paw.

Staff at RSPCA Felledge Animal Centre in Chester le Street, County Durham are looking for a new owner for a very special dog. ‘Julia’, as she’s been named, was starved almost to death by her former owners.

The RSPCA London South East branch is looking for homes for 13 cats which came in via the charity’s inspectors after being abandoned or neglected.


The cats include four that were recently found dumped in a community centre field in Dulwich.  The black cats, now named Sooty, Smokey, Lizzie and Millie, had been crammed into a cat carrier meant for just one cat and had been there for around two days.  They were soaking wet and cold.
