The RSPCA and Redwings Horse charity are appealing for information after a horse was found abandoned next to a travellers site in Long Lane, Grays, Essex.

RSPCA inspector Lewis Taylor was called out to the seven month-old piebald foal after a number of calls from concerned members of the public. The poor animal had a number of bite injuries to his neck, which had become badly infected.

“We are urging anyone with information about how this horse came to be abandoned in such a poor state to contact us,” said inspector Taylor.

The horse, which has since been named Simon, is having vet treatment and is staying at a Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

Anyone who knows anything about this incident should contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.
